Commercial & Parking Garages Project Experience
- Shops at Midtown Parking Garage, Miami, FL. Design for the cable restraint systems (barrier cables) the precast, pre-stressed double tee and clad in architectural-grade precast concrete for this 310,000 SF, 5 story structure that includes 4 elevated precast desks.
- Barket Office Building, Miami, FL.Two story office building new, 6,000 SF, pre-cast pre stressed joist, floors, open steel joist roof on spread foundation.
- US Century Bank Buildings, Various locations throughout Miami-Dade County, FL. Provided structural engineering services for the renovations to existing buildings for the conversion of such into banking facilities which included new openings, vaults, hurricane mitigation upgrades.
- Family Service Center, U.S. Naval Air Station, Key West, FL. The office space of the existing Family Service Center was expanded by 3,700 SF creating eight new offices, a group room and a storage area. The additions were designed to blend into the design of the existing structure built ten years previously. The project entailed field investigations (including verifying existing as-built record drawings), asbestos and lead paint assessments, and preparation of plans, cost estimate and specifications encompassing architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical disciplines. A roofing report describing structural deck type; vapor treatment; insulation type, thickness, and attachment; membrane type and attachment, and surfacing type was also submitted.
- Miami International Airport Emergency Response Auditorium, Miami, FL. A 12,000 SF state-of-the-art auditorium with capability to perform under different requirements is being constructed. The facility will serve as an emergency response auditorium for all of Miami International Airport. Depending on need, the auditorium will be able to insulate crash victim families, accommodate press conferences, or double as a hurricane shelter.
- Airport Rental Car Parking Structure, Avis Preferred Building, Tampa, FL. Commissioned by Avis, to install a new and upgraded booth for client reception at Tampa International Airport’s rent a car parking structure. The project included as-built investigation, architecture, code compliance verification, structural engineering, electrical engineering, permitting and construction administration services. Since this booth was installed on an existing structure, said structure had to be investigated to ascertain that it could withstand the additional loads.
- Key West Airport, Repair and Renovation of Hangar A-131, Key West, FL. Hangar A-131 was built in 1944 and is of irregular shape constructed of concrete slab on grade, structural steel columns and beams, with wood mezzanine floor joists, roof joists and sheathing. The hangar bay roof is covered with a built-up roofing system while the roof over the administrative spaces was of asphalt shingles. The building, used for helicopter search and rescue purposes as well as administrative functions, was extensively repaired and renovated. All building systems were affected.
- Phipps Park Pro Shop, West Palm Beach, FL. Complete architectural and engineering services are being provided for a 2,400 SF pro shop and retail building for an extreme skate complex. Mediterranean architectural genre was employed to match surrounding context. Selecting appropriate durable materials to accommodate equipment for the extreme sport proved challenging.
- Pier 60 Beachfront Park, Clearwater, FL. A prominent landmark park on Clearwater Beach was renovated by developing a “signature” focal point for residents and tourists alike. The new, three-acre beachfront park incorporates a multipurpose pavilion, a concession area, two covered playgrounds, enhanced pedestrian walks, seat walls, benches, showers and bike racks. Landscaping and architectural design reflect a Florida waterfront theme. Allowances were made with lighting design to provide a safe, unobtrusive environment for sea turtles during nesting season.
- Corporate Office Building, Medley, FL. An 11,000 SF regional headquarters building for one of Florida's largest pre-cast concrete manufacturers. The design fully utilized the client's product and integrated their production and erection capabilities, resulting in a structure of only 57 pieces that was built in one month.
- Nissan Miami, Miami, FL. A 40,000 SF compound consisting of two different buildings on two sites separated by a street. One facility included a two-story, 12,000 SF showroom; and a 28,000 SF service center with a storage mezzanine. The service center contains a high-bay facility with separate wash and paint bays.
- Nissan Remodeling, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Remodel of a 5,000 SF existing showroom and customer lounge, as well as reclad façades and create a new entrance feature. Bill Seidle Suzuki, Miami, FL. An 11,000 SF, one story new facility which combined the showroom and service center all under one roof. The $1.2 million facility included five service bays, plus one wash bay, and a 5,000 SF showroom. Services included site improvements for the 6.9 acres surrounding the dealership. Improvements consisted of access upgrades, paving, grading and site lighting. The aesthetics will blend architectural precast concrete with smooth metal ones.
Cruise Terminal Parking Garage, Port of Miami, Miami, FL. Structural engineering services on the four-story, 750 vehicle parking structure located at the Port of Miami. The garage is the first of a two phased project, a mirror image to be built within three years. Consequently, ingress and egress lanes, ticket spitters and pay booths were designed to handle an ultimate capacity of 1,500 vehicles. The structure employs precast, pre-stressed double tee’s and is clad in architectural-grade precast concrete panels, a design matching the new terminals and the precast intermodal center. An accompanying structure houses an electrical vault not only for the garage but for the entire western end of the cruise port (four terminals).
- Cruise Terminal Parking Garage Facility, Long Beach, CA. Structural engineering services for the HMS Queen Mary, Long Beach's premier attraction. The new cruise terminal is adjacent to the venerable ship-hotel attraction and a future seaside retail village. All of the projects combined create a demand for parking which is remedied by the 1,415 vehicle, 5-level structure designed for GIBS, an independent garage operator. The structure contains a full-fledged intermodal center on the ground floor, incorporating drop-off lanes, taxi staging and bus parking. Its aesthetics reflect the theme of the overall village, utilizing a series of 4-story tall graphic images on perforated canvas. This allows for air flow and provides striking images seen from a great distance which are easily changeable for seasons or events.
- Cruise Terminal 8 & 9 Parking Garage, Port of Miami, Miami, FL. Structural engineering services under the design criteria package prepared by an architectural firm for a design-build parking facility at the Port of Miami. The package consisted of design development drawings and specifications. The parking facility will accommodate 1,600 vehicles in four levels, including an adjacent surface parking lot for high vehicles.
- Muvico Theaters Parking Garage, Boca Raton, FL. Structural engineering services for a two-story, 103,000 SF garage. The garage can accommodate 575 vehicles for MUVICO Theaters at their Boca Raton multiplex. The design featured precast and pre-stressed concrete and was designed to complement the Moorish theme of the complex.
